Meets is NAU's judgment that its NP curricula satisfy Delaware's education requirements for licensure; the BSN rows read Meets too. It says nothing about where clinical hours happen. Two of Delaware's three neighbors, Maryland and Pennsylvania, carry the opposite answer on the NP rows, so read the Maryland guide if your work life crosses that line.

What Delaware asks of a school from elsewhere
Delaware's nursing education standards cover all nursing education programs, without splitting graduate from prelicensure. Delaware's Board wants to hear about an outside school before its students arrive at any Delaware clinical facility. The facility needs the Board's own approval as well, based on the school's forms, before students are assigned, and Board representatives may visit.

- A roster pairing each faculty member and preceptor with a site

Who can precept an NP student in Delaware
AANP ranks Delaware full practice, and research recorded no transition period attached. Delaware's rule sets a floor for preceptors: licensed, and educated to the BSN level or beyond. Online programs face a second test there, since a person precepting inside a Delaware facility must be licensed, or privileged, at the student's target level or higher; for an NP student, think APRN. About 588,000 Delawareans live in the Wilmington slice of the Philadelphia-Camden-Wilmington metro, with Dover and the Seaford area as the other population centers. Among the state's larger systems are ChristianaCare, Bayhealth and Beebe Healthcare. Nemours Children's Health, which serves children in more than one state, runs its Delaware hospital in Wilmington, handy for the pediatric hours in NAU's recommended FNP hour mix.
Licensing: Delaware signed both compacts
Arizona and Delaware share a Nurse Licensure Compact start date, Jan. 19, 2018. A multistate Delaware license fits NAU's admission wording, covers RN hours in Arizona, and is one of the license types Delaware accepts for preceptors.
Delaware also signed the APRN Compact on Aug. 4, 2021, yet no APRN multistate license exists: the compact starts only when seven states enact it, and Arizona has not. After graduation you will still seek NP certification state by state. Yes. Every NP row NAU lists for Delaware says Meets, the FNP certificate and both PMHNP options included, so no attestation is needed at enrollment. That answer covers licensure education only. Whether NAU will run your clinical hours in Delaware belongs with your program coordinator.
Does Delaware's APRN Compact law help an NAU graduate?
Not yet. Delaware's 2021 law is on the books, but seven states have to enact the compact before it runs, and NCSBN announced a redesign in 2026. Arizona lawmakers let bills to join die three years running, 2023 through 2025. Expect separate NP certification in every state you plan to practice in.
I live in Delaware but work at a Maryland hospital. Which row applies?
At enrollment NAU goes by your Delaware address, so the Meets row governs and no attestation is needed. If Maryland is where you want your NP license, its Does Not Meet row becomes the one that matters for your career. Talk to NAU's graduate nursing advisors before you apply.
What license must a preceptor in Delaware hold?
Delaware accepts either kind in the school's filing: a Delaware license or a multistate one from any compact state, with copies sent in advance. NAU adds its own test: an unencumbered license valid where they practice, plus experience and certification in a comparable population focus.
