Northern Arizona University's licensure table gives Indiana a Meets on each of its four nurse practitioner plans, so a nurse living in Indiana can enroll in NAU's online FNP or PMHNP options with no attestation. Indiana's answer on NAU's table
Indiana is a clean Meets. Both MS emphases, FNP and PMHNP, and both post-master's certificates clear the licensure education bar here, and NAU's four BSN formats do as well. For the board, NAU links the Indiana State Board of Nursing, a unit of the state's Professional Licensing Agency.

Collaborative practice and Indiana preceptors
AANP rates Indiana a reduced practice state. Every Indiana nurse practitioner works under a regulated collaborative agreement with a physician, and it has to reach at least one element of what they do. That agreement is your preceptor's business, not your paperwork. NAU weighs each preceptor against Arizona's standard (see our preceptor requirements page), and for someone working in Indiana the license in question is an Indiana license or a multistate one.
Indiana's board keeps its program oversight narrow. It accredits in-state schools that prepare nurses for a first RN or LPN license, says it reviews neither RN-BSN nor graduate nursing programs, and 848 IAC 1-2-4, its list of which programs qualify, deals only with pre-licensure schools. Research turned up no Indiana approval an out-of-state NP program must obtain before a student trains there. Whether NAU will count hours logged in Indiana remains your program coordinator's call.
Where Indiana students search
Greater Indianapolis, with roughly 2.2 million residents, is the obvious starting point, and the Fort Wayne metro adds about 466,000 more. Two out-of-state metros also spill across the border: the Chicago metro's Indiana counties hold close to 729,000 people, and Louisville's about 281,000. Students often ask about Ascension St. Vincent and Franciscan Health, and just as often about Parkview Health, Community Health Network or Indiana University Health. Each handles students its own way; a name here illustrates the landscape and implies no NAU placement.

Licensing for clinicals in Indiana
Indiana has taken part in the Nurse Licensure Compact since implementation on July 1, 2020, and Arizona belongs too. A multistate license issued by Indiana to an Indiana resident satisfies NAU's admission wording and covers Indiana clinical hours, because Arizona's rule wants an unencumbered license valid where the clinic sits. The APRN Compact has never been enacted in Indiana, which leaves the NP credential you seek after graduation as a separate Indiana application. One Arizona item follows you to Indiana as well: the IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card from Arizona's Department of Public Safety is required of every NAU NP student, Indiana residents included, and the fingerprint card guide covers the out-of-state route.

Does NAU's online FNP program meet licensure requirements in Indiana?
Yes. Every NP option NAU lists reads Meets for Indiana, FNP and PMHNP alike, so no attestation applies to you. Because the table is undated, look at the live Indiana row when you apply and once more if you plan to relocate, and confirm clinical arrangements with your program coordinator.
Will Indiana's nursing board need to sign off on NAU before my clinicals?
Nothing in our research says so. Indiana's board accredits in-state programs that prepare nurses for initial RN or LPN licensure and states that it leaves graduate nursing programs unreviewed. The open question is NAU's own. It has published no rule on graduate clinicals beyond Arizona's borders, so your program coordinator is the person to ask before you contact Indiana sites.
Can an Indiana NP with a collaborative agreement be my preceptor?
Yes. Indiana's collaboration requirement governs the NP's own practice and does not appear among NAU's tests. What NAU checks is the Arizona list: a clean license in the state where the preceptor sees patients, twelve months or more in advanced practice or medicine, the same population focus as your course, and, for NPs, national certification. Approval rests with the FNP Program Coordinator.
I live near Louisville. Can my preceptor be in Kentucky?
Possibly. An Indiana multistate license reaches Kentucky, another compact member, yet Kentucky's board requires Kentucky APRN licensure of the person precepting you.
